The Opportunity

Pender PR was brought onboard to provide and execute a publicity and marketing strategy for Anthony Shim’s debut feature film Daughter for its world premiere at the Vancouver International Film Festival. We worked alongside the production team, cast and Anthony directly to deliver results in the media.

The Results

We worked with the team on PR & Marketing strategy, provided guidance, messaging and consulted on poster, trailer and asset creation. As a result of this collaboration we were able to get top positioning in the trades including print, on-air and radio coverage for the film, cast and director. The positive press and marketing efforts led to two sold-out screenings in Vancouver before the film headed to The São Paulo International Film Festival.

We managed the team on red carpets, facilitated press outreach, scheduling and helped with social media strategy and marketing. We were able to advise the team on poster design and acted as liaisons for the festival coordinators. We worked collaboratively to make the world premiere a true success and all screenings of Daughter debuted to sold out audiences.

The film was featured in The Globe & Mail, Georgia Straight, Vancouver Sun, Province and more than 30 outlets nationally.
